News- 2012 Awards Banquet

The 17th Annual Awards Banquet for Mid-Nebr Speedway was held at Howard Johnson/Riverside Inn in Grand Island on January 12, 2013

A special tribute was held for Chuck Bosselman and Terry Eatherton both of whom were very dear to the hearts of those associated with the Speedway and passed away during 2012.

Trophies were presented to the top ten drivers in each class for the 2012 Racing season. The trophies were all made by Dale & Donna Holbein doing business as Awards Plus of Lexington. Awards Plus also was the sponsor for the Happy Hornet division trophies. Erik Nelson was the points champion again this year but was not able to attend due to the flu. His mother accepted his trophy for him. Second place went to Joey Platt and third place was Denise Williams. Denise als received a gift certificate from Perkins Restaurant & Bakery of Grand Island.

IMCA Hobby Stock division received total cash awards of $1,125. The Top five received added Points Money from H & H Distributing as well as the points fund sponsored by Mid-Nebr Speedway thru the IMCA Sanctioning. Kyle Bond took the honors as the Champion in the IMCA Hobby Stock Class with a total of 707 points for the year after having eleven wins. Jake Pemberton was second in points and third went to Jerry Barribo Jr. The top ten trophies for this division were sponsored by Hajny Auto Sales of Hastings.

Total cash awards for the IMCA division was $2353.00 . This included added points money from H & H Distributing and from Mid-Nebr Speedway thru IMCA sanctioning. Jared Hoefelman took top honors with a total of 688 points for the season after having five wins during the season. Tyler Iverson finished in second and Jimmy Pearce was third. Don's Lock & Key Service of G.I. sponsored the top ten trophies for the IMCA Modified division.

Tagart Auto Supply - NAPA of G.I. sponsored the top ten Grand National Late Model trophies. The total cash awards for this class was $6,625.00 All but one of the top ten received added Sunoco Fuel Points money in addition to the Late Model drivers points fund sponsored by the drivers and Mid-Nebr Speedway. The top five also received additional money from H&H Distributing of G.I. Top Honors went to Josh Leonard with a total of 706 points for the season and a total of eight A-feature wins. Jarred Hackler was second and Jake Neighbors third.

Joey Platt was Rookie of the year in the Happy Hornet Division. IMCA Hobby Stock Rookie of the year Honors went to Jamie Porterfield. Justin Brandt was Rookie of the year in the IMCA Modifieds and Lester Duncan in the Grand National Late Models.

Favorite Driver of the 2012 Race Season Honors are determined by Fans in the Stands all season long. When you buy a Souvenir Program - there is a ballot in the program which you fill out and turn in your vote. This years honors went to Denton Duncan.

The Top four Champions also each received $75.00 Gift Certificates towards a Full Body Car Wrap sponsored by D-Sign Shop and specially framed photos courtesy of Jerry Jacobs who is the official track photographer. The three IMCA Champions also received Leather Coats sponsored by Mid-Nebr Speedway.
